Yes, I am saying that the distinguishing features of capitalism are all upsides. But that does not mean it does not share with other systems some of the downsides arising from life in a competitive universe.

I also believe that capitalism will not work without democracy, because democratically imposed regulation is in effect an enforced boycott of companies that do what the regulation forbids. Unless the victims of sharp practices have redress through legislation, the system is likely to fail. That is why capture of the legislature by capitalists is a bad thing. Capitalism is a beast that must be tamed, not a mad dog that must be put down.
